Vintage Rootbeer Color Bakelite Bracelet of Machine Age Design of Cylinders & Ball Bearings – Art Deco Era. The bracelet was tested with simichrome: a small amount of simichrome was rubbed on with a q-tip, and both the application q-tip, and the clean cloth to take the simichrome off turned a light shade of yellow. The color of this rootbeer bakelite bracelet changes with the amount of light that it receives – the first pictures represents the color in daylight. The art deco industrial design of using cylinders interspersed with “ball bearrings” is really eye catching. And this design is oh so comfortable to wear. Total Weight: 82.8 grams. Size: The cylinder shapes are approximately 1 3/16″ long x 1/2″ diameter. The balls are 1/2 in diameter. There are a total of 9 cylinder shapes and 18 balls. The overall size of this bracelet is approximately 7 without the elastic string being stretched. A size 6 1/2″ wrist could easily wear this just as a 7″ wrist could wear this. Bakelite is so easy to wear because it is lightweight, colorful and fun. Condition: Like most vintage bakelite pieces, there are a few scratches from normal wear after 70 years or so. The last picture shows the worst scratch on this bracelet. The elastic in this bracelet is also vintage, and the elastic stretched out from its original tightness. The elastic will need to be restrung on this bracelet before wearing it. Please note: The old elastic strings in this bracelet are worn out. The elastic will need to be replaced, and the bracelet restrung, before wearing this wonderful deco era bakelite bracelet. The pictures are enlarged to view the details.
