ANTIQUE ART DECO 935 FINE Silver Marcasite Vintage BRACELET Superb Condition
Welcome to Jewel Box :. A wonderful fine piece in which the proportions and quality of detail would point to it being from 1900 -1920s. It is marked 935 on the section which slides into the clasp which is generally a high Continental hallmark and the exceptional workmanship would indicate that this is a German piece. There are 10 panels in all and each is joined with a decorated link, millegrain worked and with a marcasite to the centre. The panels themselves are pierced with delicate flowers set in open scrolling framework emblematic of the Belle Epoque. Each tiny edge is millegrain worked and highlighted with quality marcasites. Modern ones just do not look the same. The last two panels form the clasp section and are actually shaped to form a single panel when the bracelet is fastened so that the design is completely seamless. The clasp has the fine extra top closure which does away with a safety chain. When you turn the bracelet over you can see the satin finish to the back. I would think this is Rhodium Plated which allows the bracelet to never tarnish. When these tarnish its obvious that polishing them results in the loss of marcasite. Fine Jewellery is still protected to this day with Rhodium Plating as it is a derivative of Platinum. App 10 mm wide. In wonderful Original Unrestored (it doesn’t need anything done to it anyway) Condition. Perfect for a very special gift as Bracelets are traditionally a token of Friendship.
